Look Back On January [366 Project]

On a whim when the year ticked over, I decided that this year, 2020, was the year that I would do a 365 project. In fact it was such an unexpected decision that I spent several days calling it a 365 project when in reality it would be a 366 project as 2020 is a leap year. Not deterred I kept my camera with me at all times, ready to capture those little moments that are so often missed in the day-to-day chaos of life with a young baby. Now that January is finished and I’ve had some time to look back, I’ve decided to select some of my favourite photos from the month and record them here.

Already I can see that the beauty in a year-long project like this is going to be looking back at these photos and seeing this little snapshot of what our life was like in that moment. The loose theme for my project is “Everyday” so I’m working hard not to capture anything that is forced or staged. Not all of the photos are perfect, and (truthfully) not all of them are probably worth sharing, but I’m so glad that I decided to do this and I think it’s going to be great for me as a photographer.

My goal for February is to appear in more of the images. Right now my 366 project contains exactly ZERO pictures of me (unless you count one picture in which my legs appear), which is a pretty poor effort. Time to break out the tripod and start the self portraiture!
