About Me
Behind Hello Said The Dawn

Hey! I’m Oceana, the writer behind Hello Said The Dawn. This blog is all about slow living, doing creative things just for the joy of it, exploring the magnificent world, and finding the adventure in everyday life.
I live in tropics of Northern Australia with my fiancé (a British escapee) and my son (a curious toddler). I drink too much coffee, own too much fabric, get the urge to paint at 2 in the morning, and wouldn’t change anything for the world.

For 6 months I've been slowly collecting fabrics, digging through clearance bins and op shops, harvesting from worn out clothes, compiling little pieces of blue wherever I see them.

Now the quilt top is done and it's the biggest I've ever made. This one is staying at home, it fits perfectly on Oscar's bed and I think we are all going to enjoy cuddling under it.

~ 2022 ~ A year of things falling into place. Cha ~ 2022 ~

A year of things falling into place. Change, challenge, chaos and creativity.

Getting the job I'd been dreaming of. Reaching the halfway point of Dean's degree. Creating a house that felt like a home. Quilting and sewing and making to such a wonderful level. Through every challenge, we've kept our big goals in mind, and we are on our way. To go from so much uncertainty just a few years ago to where we are now... Well let's just say that life really is amazing.

And at each stage and step, our ray of sunshine has been Oscar. His beautiful and wild creative energy, constantly moving, always talking and quick to laugh. He asks for cuddles all day long, cares for those around him, and sings without knowing any of the proper words. Our days are endlessly more magical in his presence and for that we are always grateful (although an occassional sleep-in would also be nice).

Bit of an Oscar comparison between now, and the last three years. Seems Teddy gets smaller with each picture, shows just how fast those years go!
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night 🎄😴
